It was the hottest day of the year so far with the temperature hitting 28 degrees and only a very light breeze to help. The fish in Kingsland’s big lake were enjoying the oxygen created by the aerators and had congregated solidly around one. Nineteen anglers entered today with this lake producing one of last season’s best weights.
Ray Torrington retained the Exeter Trophy with an impressive 154 lbs 9 oz, fishing peg 5 mid way down the lake Ray stuck with the margin and cat meat approach all day. Second was Nathan Grech on the opposite bank on peg 18 with 116 lbs 2 oz. Nathan fished double worm over ground bait and tempted the odd one on paste. Third was Phil Price with 113 lbs 10 oz from Peg 14. Phil’s approach was Method feeder with a Wafter then dead red maggots in the margin.
