It was the first return in a few years to Rookery waters near Pidley for the latest Club Day. The “inside out” Jay Lake was shared with another club. Accessed by a bridge all pegs give anglers a far bank feature. With the weatherman promising rain for the afternoon, it actually stayed warm with very light winds and only a small shower. Rookery waters now has 7 lakes, a well stocked tackle shop and an onsite café (that serves a fantastic breakfast).
Today’s winner and retaining the Jim Slack memorial trophy was Ray Torrington. Ray fishing from Peg 37 on the method feeder to the far bank and pole in the margins finished with 120lbs 8oz. Second was Nathan Grech with 97lbs 13oz from Peg 39. Third was Jason Chatham with 77lbs 3oz. Method feeder to the far bank on wafter and pole fishing dead red maggots down the middle.
