Following the fifth major flooding of the winter the water level had started to drop only to rise again after some more late February rainfall. The Fish Refuge at Stibbington was the only hope for this match as banks were still under water at the Sibson stretch of the Nene. Numbers dwindled to 14 anglers following the decision to switch venues. But after a frosty start, a warm, bright and dry day greeted the anglers.
Today would be Round 4 of the Deeping Individual Leagues Series and another opportunity for anglers to gain points.
First place went to Mick Fowkes who finished with an impressive 14lb 3oz from Peg number 1. Using a 3m whip Mick caught 373 fish, consisting of Roach, Bream and Bleak on Maggot.
Second place to Jason Chatham with 6lb 8oz from peg number 2. Jason caught on Maggot and Pinkie over ground bait on the 3 and 4m whip.
Third place was Dave Preston with 3lb 12oz from peg number 3. Dave also fished the 4m whip on Maggot and Pinkie over ground bait.
Section wins for Pete Wray and Steve Borrett.
