Decoy and it’s 6 Islands Lake for the club day today. Nineteen Anglers turned out for what promised to be a warm and dry day for a change. The wind was blowing in from the North East so the lake was going to fish differently from the norm.
Today’s overall winner would be fishing for the Doxam Rosebowl and 2023-24 Winner Nathan Grech would be hoping to retain his title for the third consecutive year. It was also the first of four rounds of the Fenland cup. Fished at both Decoy and Kingsland, current holder Ray Torrington would be hoping to get off to a good start. Today would also see the final matches in the Individual Knockout Trophy second round.
It is a Hat-trick of wins for Nathan Grech in the Doxam Rosebowl. Nathan finished with 89lbs 2oz from peg number 13. Fishing his favourite method at top 2 + 2 on the paste over micros.
Second place to Andrew Wilson with 71lbs 1oz from corner peg number 10. Andrew tried most methods and baits during the day, but Dobbing banded red maggots and using cat meat in the margins was most productive.
Third place and sandwiched on the peg between Nathan and Andrew was Ray Torrington. Ray finished with 69lbs from peg number 12. Ray caught using paste over micros on top 2 + 2.
