Not many anglers for this annual evening match on Horseshoe lake. Conditions were nice and warm with light winds and the odd rain shower.
Anglers would be competing in the second round of the Wade Cup, plus the John Slack Memorial Cup. Current Wader Cup holder Phil Price would be looking to close the 112lb gap on Antony Johnson from round 1. With current John Slack Memorial Cup holder Paul Wild not fishing (as well as Nathan Grech) it would also be the chance for a different name on club silverware.
The last individual knockout cup round would also be fished to see who meets Ray Torrington in the final.
Drawing the flyer isn’t always a guarantee of fish and certainly Peg 19 made this clear today. But getting to grips with the approach needed after a couple of hours and finishing in first place was Phil Price. Phil caught up in the water on his new favourite method the “Bagging Waggler” and dog biscuit. Phil made a great dent in the Wade cup lead with his weight of 97lbs 3 oz.
Second Place was Paul Sugarman with 72lbs 1 oz from Peg 38. Paul fished the method feeder to the far bank rotating with a variety of baits including corn, meat and wafter. He later switched to the pole in the margins fishing corn.
In the Individual knockout Cup Stuart Baxter beat Mick Wright.
