It was the second trip to Float Fish Farm for Deeping St James Angling Club this year. Wagtail Pool was the target for this visit. It was bright and Sunny with a blustery cool northerly wind blowing down the lake.
The Anglers were competing for the Jim Measures memorial shield. Jim was a leading club member in donating and purchasing the shares that went on to form the Several Fisheries stretch of the River Welland. Jim was a staunch member of the club and committee, and was also Chairman for a time.
Ray Torrington finished in first place with 76 lb 5 oz. Fishing cat meat on the pole at 5 metres and the micros on the method feeder with corn as hook bait. Second was Nigel Collis with 71 lb 11 oz, using 8mm hard pellets on the 6m pole line. Third place went to Nathan Grech with 66lb 9 oz.
