It was going to be a scorcher with temperatures set to hit the thirties and they didn’t get it wrong.
The breeze was very welcome at Decoy Lakes on Six Islands (or one Island and 5 tufts as it should be known). First time on Six Islands in a few years for the club, but only 11 anglers braved the heat.
Fishing for the Newman Cup the anglers were given plenty of space around the 25 peg lake.
Paul Wild found himself “down breeze” in the corner peg number 23 and finished with a personal best of 122lb 5oz to take first place. Paul fished paste on the pole at 2+ 2 but most fish fell to 8mm pellet on the bomb against the island.
Second Place to Andy Wilson with 88lb 2oz from peg number 21. Andy had a good run on cat meat in the margins late on, including a Gudgeon.
Third place to Jason Chatham with 87lb 0oz from peg number 18. Jason fished a mixture of method feeder to the far bank and pole at 5m on 6mm pellet.
