A very hot day at Decoy, Whittlesey on the Damson Lake with temperatures pushing 28 Degrees. The aerators were on and stayed on all day. Lots of fish were high in the water enjoying the warm upper layer.
Fishing for the Newman Cup, donated by Cyril Newman who had a tackle shop on Lincoln Road in Peterborough, where many club members would have bought tackle and bait.
2020 Newman Cup winner Ray Torrington retained the trophy by a slender margin. Ray finished up with 67 lbs 12 oz fishing from peg number 18. Mainly catching in the margin on the pole using pellet, corn or maggot, but also from against the island using pellet on the feeder. Second place for Nigel Collis from peg 1 with the aerator as constant company. Nigel weighed in 65 lbs 9 oz from the pole in the margin on 6mm hard pellets. Third place to Peter Wray with 56 lbs 6 oz from Peg 5, fishing the margins on pellet.
