The Anglers headed back into Fenland for our first trip of the season to Decoy Lakes. Yew was the Lake and is the end one of the five strip lakes. Weather was very warm but the forecast gave a prediction of Showers. Which proved to be very accurate for the 4 o’clock arrival but was more than a shower, with some epic quantities of rain falling in a short twenty minutes. It was fair to say everyone and everything was soaked.
Anglers were competing for the Exeter Cup which was donated to the club by the Marquess of Exeter (Burghley House). The Marquess’s daughter is Lady Victoria Leatham and is the clubs’ patron. This match also marked round Two of the Fenland Cup.
Fresh from his attendance at the first Feeder Clinic run by Antony Johnson, there was only ever going to be the one approach for today’s overall winner. Joe Price found himself on end peg number 28 with a whole opposite bank to aim for and put into practice everything he had learnt. Joe fished the method feeder towards the far bank and ended up with 74lbs and 8oz.
Second place by just a couple of pounds was Club Chairman Andy Wilson. Andy fishing feeder and pole from peg 24 finished with 72lbs 6oz.
Third place to Ray Morland from Peg 26 with 60lbs 14 oz fishing on the pole.
