The last still water venue of the summer calendar and it was back on the club’s own Horseshoe lake at Sibson. A little lull in the rain allowed the 10 anglers to get to their pegs and get brollys in place. To say it rained heavy would be understating it somewhat, it rained heavy then it rained heavier !
Anglers were competing in the third and final round of the Wade Cup. Fished over three visits to Horseshoe Lake the angler with the highest combined weight from three visits would be the winner. After two rounds it was tight on the leader board with only 12lbs separating the top four anglers.
Also up for grabs for todays match winner was the Les Wiles Cup. Donated by a very committed club and committee member, who lived in Peterborough.
On his first “fishing” visit to Horseshoe lake, todays winner was Paul Barron. Paul fished peg number 13 and finished with 61lbs 14oz. Fishing the hybrid feeder and wafters to the far bank. Included in Paul’s weight was a 12lb 15oz carp.
Very small margins for a second place today and by just 3oz it was Jason Chatham. Fishing peg 18, Jason ended up with 61lbs 11oz. Fishing method feeder and wafter to the far bank for carp, with a short spell on the pole taking a couple of bream at 10m.
Third place to Steve Borrett with 46lbs 3oz from peg number 15. Steve caught on the method feeder with pink or orange wafters, along with one on the worm and one on dog biscuit using the pellet waggler.
It was also close in the final round of the wade cup with only 12lbs separating the top 3 spots. Ray Torrington’s 34lb 1oz was enough to crown him Wade Cup Winner 2022
