Last Club Day of the Summer series as anglers made the long trip to Westwood Lakes near Boston, Lincolnshire. 13 anglers were booked on to Swallow Lake and there was plenty of space to spread-out and try and find some of the lake’s varied species. The weather was good for the time of year with a strong breeze blowing from the south. This made it a lake of 2 halves with some enjoying shelter and sun whilst others …. well they froze.
The lake has its “flyers” and taking advantage of a kind draw, Nathan Grech became this year’s John Harris Cup winner. Nathan fished banded pellets over micros and then switched to corn over micros on the pole at 13 metres. Ending up with 45lbs 6 oz from peg number 5. Second place was Pete Wray on peg 9 and weighing in 39lbs 10 oz. Pete fished the Method feeder to the island with dead reds on the hook, switching to the margins and expanders. Third place with 39lbs and 4 oz was Ray Morland from peg 25. Ray fished Maggot in the margins and top kit + 2.
Section Wins for Phil Price and Neil Speechley.
