Cold, Blustery and wet weather conditions and a very clear river greeted the 15 Anglers for the 1st round of the Deeping Individual Leagues Series and the Annual Fur and Feather event.
Split into 3 equal sections the middle deeper stretch along the Club’s Sibson stretch of the River Nene proved to be the fish holding ground following the recent cold snap.
Jason Chatham fishing Top 2 +2 on the pole from Peg 11 finished top with 11lbs 12oz. Loose feeding Hemp over ground bait the fish were taking most bait hook baits. Double red maggot was used mostly along with bread punch. Steve Borret fishing Peg 12 next door came second with 11lbs 3ox Using both 5m whip and 10m pole with pinkie over ground bait. Third place to Ray Torrington from Peg 14 with 11lbs 1oz, also fishing whip / pole on maggot feeding hemp and tares over ground bait.
Mostly anglers caught Roach, Dace, Chub, Perch and Bleak with a few skimmers included.
