The long awaited rain had eventually fallen in the week leading up to this match. Providing much needed colour and flow to the River Nene. Low catch reports on the club’s other stretches led to the decision to head back to Sibson.
Cold overnight temperatures and a biting northerly wind were made worse during the day by rain and hail showers.
Competing for points in the fourth round of the Deeping Individual Leagues series, it was tight between four Anglers at the top. 15 Anglers were divided equally into 3 sections and spread upstream of the previous match.
Steve Borrett, currently leading the DILS points table, went all in for the Bleak from his first cast on Peg number 14. Steve produced an excellent bag of Bleak to finish in first place with 11lbs 13 oz. Concentrating on the 4 metre whip using red Maggot and Pinkies.
Second was Ray Torrington, cementing his current position of second place in the points table. From a very unfancied Peg 7, Ray weighed in 5lb 0oz. Using a combination of Feeder and 4m whip with Pinkies and Maggot.
Third Place to Paul Dotchin who finished up with 4lb 8oz from Peg number 18. Paul fished the Pole at 5m on Maggot for mostly Bleak and a few Perch.
Sections wins for Dave Preston, Dereck Drover & Stephen Smith
