Match Result: Sunday 3rd March 2025 Venue: River Nene at Sibson The final trip onto the river for this season was preceded by yet more midweek rain. But a few dry days had let the Nene level at Sibson return to normal, even if the flow had not dropped off completely. A very frosty start with the promise of very light winds and a full day of sun. 18 anglers signed up to fish in the fourth round of the Deeping Individual League Series (DILS) with Alan Thomas looking to extend his current lead. Also today, the anglers would be fishing for the Several Fisheries Championship. This is a Club Cup normally fished on the River Welland and recognises the Club taking single ownership of the river. Back then nearly all club matches were fished on the River Welland through the Deepings, this stretch being known as the Several Fishery, because several people, 20 in all, owned one share each. First place on the day went to Paul Dotchin with 6lb 8oz from Peg number 16. Paul's methods included the flat float and pole feeder on top 4 and a bleak rig on top 2. Fishing pinkie over ground bait. Second place went to Pete Wray with 4lb 2oz from Peg number 15. Pete fished the pole feeder at 5m, with maggot or pinkie on the hook over ground bait. Third place was shared with 3 Anglers all weighing in with 3lb 11oz. Ian Benton from peg number 5. Ian fished the pole feeder on top 5 with worm or maggot over ground bait. Steve Borrett from peg number 10. Steve fished a 4m whip float line with maggot or pinkie. Alfie Kendall from peg number 14. Alfie fished the whip feeder at 5m with pinkie over ground bait. There was also a tie for a section win with both Alan Thomas and Lyndsay Horseman sharing the section. Section wins for Mick Wright and Mick Fowkes Full Result 1st Paul Dotchin 6 lbs 8 oz - Peg # 16 2nd Pete Wray 4 lbs 2 oz - Peg # 15 =3rd Alfie Kendall 3 lbs 11 oz - Peg # 14 =3rd Steve Borrett 3 lbs 11 oz - Peg # 10 =3rd Ian Benton 3 lbs 11 oz - Peg # 5 =6th Alan Thomas 3 lbs 6 oz - Peg # 19 =6th Lyndsay Horsman 3 lbs 6 oz - Peg # 17 8th Mick Wright 1 lbs 15 oz - Peg # 23 9th Stephen Smith 1 lbs 12 oz - Peg # 21 10th David Pike 1 lbs 6 oz - Peg # 22 11th Mick Fowkes 1 lbs 4 oz - Peg # 8 12th Derek Drover 1 lbs 3 oz - Peg # 4 13th Paul Barron 1 lbs 1 oz - Peg # 25 14th Jason Chatham 0 lbs 9 oz - Peg # 24 15th Des Dalton 0 lbs 8 oz - Peg # 20 =16th Leon Smith DNW - Peg # 18 =16th Neil Halliwell DNW - Peg # 9 =16th Antony Johnson DNW - Peg # 6

Match Result: Sunday 2nd February 2025 Venue: Stibbington Fish Refuge After another deluge of rain the River Nene had risen again by 3 feet forcing this match to be held on the club’s Fish Refuge at Stibbington. Fourteen anglers were greeted with a frosty start but with the promise of clear blue skies and light wind conditions. A meetup at the infamous Stibby Diner saw our paths cross with some lads from “up north” heading to practise for the Winter League Final. Today anglers would be competing in the third round of the Deeping Individual League Series. A points based competition spread over five rounds. Plus they also would be competing in the second and final round of the Dawkins River Cup, fished over two rounds for best overall weight. This is the club’s newest trophy in honour of the late Dave Dawkins, a club bailiff for many years around the Crowland area. Alan Thomas started the match with a 5lb 5oz lead over the next competing angler in the Dawkins River Cup. A promising draw on one of the favoured pegs boosted his confidence further. Guest angler Stuart Redman produced an excellent catch of 5lbs 7oz of Bleak from Peg number 3. Rotating his whip lines from 2.5 to 4m. Stuart fished orange fluro dyed pinkies into sloppy ground bait for 267 fish. Alan Thomas finished in first place for the match with 2lb 15oz of Roach and Bleak from peg number 2. Alan fished over at 11m on the pole with pinkie and ground bait. The win secured Alan 10 points in the Deeping Individual League as well as a first place in the Dawkins River Cup. Second on the day was Steve Borrett with 2lbs from Peg 10. Steve fished a 3m and 4m whip with pinkie over ground bait using a size 22 hook catching Bleak. Third place went to David Pike in the favourite peg number 1. David fished the long pole at 13m using maggot and caught mainly Roach. Section Wins for Jason Chatham and Mick Fowkes.
