The Fish Refuge is a small channel that flows from and back into the River Nene. Whilst it rises and falls with the flood levels of the main river, it does not suffer the high flow rates. This offers a good sanctuary for both fish and angler.
Approximately 1 mile beyond Wansford on the A1 Southbound, take the slip road sign posted Nene Valley Steam Railway.
Turn opposite Stibbington cafe and into Church Lane. 400 yds along this road is a sharp left hand bend, turn right and follow the private road towards sewage treatment works.
Day Ticket holders must park on the area before the gates or on the grass area in front of sewerage treatment works.
Members only can access through the padlocked gate to parking bays between the river and refuge.
The Fish Refuge has NO close season. But both the Inlet and Outlet channels are subject to close season with no fishing from March 14th to June 16th. The inlet channel is from the river to the vehicle bridge. The outlet channel is from the Pedestrian footbridge to the River.
